Don’t be the only one standing in your way

You have everything inside of you. Everything, the answers are all within you.

Nothing in the outside world will give you what you are after.

If you are sad, the only thing that will make you happy (outside of the quick fixes which only last as long as the dopamine rush) is you.

The next time you reach for the next goal, maybe food, something to buy, someone to fix your problem or someone else to make you feel a certain way, you will never achieve what it is you are after, especially in the longer term.

It comes back to doing the inner work, the inner journey and finding it within.

Same goes with who is holding you back / standing in your way.... it's you!

Some may call is being your worst critic, self sabotaging, insert whatever you want to call it. So how do you know you are in your own way?

 ✘ you're in your head about all the things you should and shouldn't be doing
✘ externally seeking approval
✘ in full procrastination mode
✘ perfectionism is stopping you from doing the thing
✘ you are constantly comparing yourself to others
✘ bad habits and addictions
✘ running on empty
✘ lack of communication (and boundaries)

Needless to say if you can self sabotage, you can also choose to stop self sabotaging. And it starts with self awareness.

Paying attention to the behaviour that keeps you doing the thing...

what's the behaviour, what's it responding too?
An emotion or feeling?
Or not wanting to feel these?

Write it out. If you're having trouble identifying patterns, start by keeping a journal. Sometimes self sabotage is a result of past or childhood trauma and a strategy to survive. However this strategy is outdated and past its usefulness.

Create a plan (and do it). Once you're aware, and can identify the patterns and behaviour, developing a plan and taking action is the next step.

Being mindful when you recognise behaviours or patterns and communicating which can be the hardest thing BUT once you speak your fears they have less of a grip on you!
